Zhanna Kobalava

Kobalava Zhanna Davidovna graduated from the medical faculty of RUDN University named after Patrice Lumumba in 1984. Her residency and postgraduate studies were held under the guidance of V.S. Moiseev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The main areas of research activity are inter-organ relations in the clinic of internal diseases. Prof. Kobalava developed and introduced into clinical practice the concepts of cardiorenal, cardiohepatic and hepatic-renal relationships in hypertension, diabetes mellitus, ACS, acute and chronic heart failure, infectious endocarditis. The effectiveness and safety of innovative drug therapy are being actively studied.

Kobalava Zh. D. was one of the first in our country to study the clinical and research capabilities of parallel daily monitoring of central and peripheral blood pressure, aortic stiffness and main arteries in patients with hypertension, HF, rheumatoid arthritis. She was the National Coordinator of Conceptual Clinical Multicenter Studies such as VALUE and CANTOS, as well as the Principal Investigator of more than 75 large international and national clinical studies in the fields of AH, DM, ACS, HF and dyslipidemia.

Under the scientific supervision of Kobalava Zh .D. 101 candidate and 10 doctoral dissertations were defended.

Kobalava Zh.D. is the author of more than 1500 scientific papers, including 15 monographs, co-author of major manuals for doctors such as “Fundamentals of Internal Medicine,” “Cardiorenal Medicine,” “Heart Diseases,” textbook “Internal Diseases” in Russian and English.

Hirsch index in RSCI – 65, SCOPUS – 37.

She is a co-author of the clinical recommendations of the Russia Society of Cardiology (RKO) and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on hypertension, HF, dyslipidemia, infectious endocarditis.

Kobalava Zh. D. is a Vice-president of the Russian Scientific Society of Therapists (RNMOT) and Russian Society for the Prevention on Non-communicable Diseases (ROPNIZ), a member of the Presidium of RKO and Society of Heart Failure Specialists (OSSN), Chairman of the Doctoral Dissertation Council of the RUDN University, a member of the Higher Attestation Commission, a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).

Government awards and titles: Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2013), Order of Honor (2020).
