Description: An interactive workshop, this session covers foundations for internists of any career stage who are new to the area of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and clinical research. The workshop offers attendees a demo of the machine learning pipeline, large and small group discussion, networking opportunities, and materials to take away for additional learning. Learning objectives for this workshop are:
- Define foundational concepts of AI, its development, and implications in internal medicine.
- Recognize opportunities and pitfalls of AI applications, including generative models, in health care.
- Identify opportunities to engage in organizational and process changes towards influencing AI-augmented clinical care improvements.
- Understand important considerations when thinking about using generative AI in supporting manuscript preparation for scientific publication.
