Nikolaos Tentolouris received his medical degree from the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece in 1986 and his specialty title in Internal Medicine in 1997. He worked in the field of diabetes mellitus, metabolic and endocrine diseases at the University of Manchester (Manchester Royal Infirmary), UK (1997-1998). He is a full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Laiko General Hospital, in Athens. He has participated in scientific and organizational committees of many international and national conferences, is a member of the Editorial Board in 4 medical journals and a reviewer in 82 international journals. He is the Coordinator of the Graduate Program of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens entitled “Diabetes Mellitus-Obesity”. He contributed to 7 International and 8 Greek multi-authored medical books on diabetes and Internal Medicine. His research work includes more than 340 publications in international journals that have more than 17,000 references in the international bibliography and h-index 63 (Google Scholar). He is currently the president of the Hellenic Society of Internal Medicine, and he served as Scientific Secretary of the Diabetic Foot Study Group (DFSG) for 6 years and member of the Executive Committee of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) (2017-2018).
