Panagiotis Skendros, MD, PhD, is Professor of Internal Medicine at the First Department of Internal Medicine of University Hospital of Alexandroupolis, Greece. He graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and trained in Internal Medicine at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and Hippokration Hospital in Thessaloniki. He received his PhD in Immunology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received advanced training in Immunology at the Laboratoire Central d’ Immunologie Cellulaire et Tissulaire/CERVI of Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital, and at the INSERM/UPMC UMRS 945, Lab Immunogénétique, in Paris. His research interests and key publications focus on innate immune mechanisms in autoinflammation, immunothrombosis, and infection. He coordinates collaborative translational research projects funded from GSRI (GR) and ERDF (EU). He is a member of the Advisory Board and the Education & Training Committee of the European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM). In parallel, he works as consultant at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis with special interest for patients with systemic autoinflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
